Kromatografi
gas yaitu kromatografi dimana pemisahannya didasarkan atas partisi dan
adsorpsi zat yang
akan dianalisis dalam bentuk gas antara dua fase (fase gerak dan fase diam)
Berdasarkan jenis
fase diam, ada 2 jenis kromatografi gas (KG) :
1. Kromatografi Gas Padat (KGP)
Berdasarkan penjerapan (adsorpsi) zat dalam bentuk gas pada
permukaan padat . Sekarang jarang digunakan.
2. Kromatografi Gas Cair (KGC)
Berdasarkan partisi zat dalam bentuk gas dalam fase diam
(cairan yang tersalut pada zat padat) dengan fase gerak (gas). Paling banyak
dipakai.
- Keuntungan utama
kromatografi gas adalah waktu analisis yang singkat dan ketajaman pemisahannya
besar.
- Syarat utama zat
yang dapat dianalisis secara KG adalah zatnya harus mudah menguap (titik
didih rendah / tekanan uap tinggi) atau dapat diubah menjadi zat yang mudah
menguap.

Separation Process:
Separation
Process Sample is introduced into system via hot vaporising
injector. Typically 1ul is injected. Flow of “Carrier Gas” moves vaporised
sample (i.e. gas) onto column Column is coated with wax type material with
varying affinity for components of interest Components are separated in the
column based on this affinity. Individual analytes are
detected as they emerge from the end of the column through the Detector. Sisal
